Our little Skip, who lives outside most of the time, has brought a friend with him this evening: seemingly a femele wild grey, adult.

Looks like she may have a back leg broken. She hurts. She's gentle and cold, bites the edge of the basket she's in like she does not want to release it... She looks tired...

No vet around will take a wild animal.

Can anyone tell me what I can do?

She's on a hot pad.

Wow, Skip is nursing on her!!!! (he's 4 months old).

Are you serious?!?! If this is an injured wild, and you have a 4 mo old nursing on her, you CANT keep her... she has babies somewhere that are starving and unprotected! :eek Oh my, Im going to panic all night about this one...:(

You need to feed her, and see if she will lead you to her nest... hurry, before it gets dark....

She will not walk. All she can do is crawl. We saw her on the grass, she crawled under the car, then she let us take her without protest. She is now inside when we are trying to warm her up, she's cold and kind of rigid? But alive and her kind eyes staring patiently....

what can give her?

She just died.

We are in tears.
I'll see if there are needy squirrels in the woods in the coming days. If she was still nursing, they would be around 4 months old, though, here in Canada there is not fall babies.

Our best hope is now that either we can find the babies, or maybe they too had an accident.

I hate that our way of life kills so gentle animals.

The babies could still be as young as 2 months... You need to walk, listen, and carry a ladder... :Love_Icon

Skip brought her to you for a reason. Maybe if for only trying to save her babies. I hope you can find them in the next few days:sad

The wood is large in the back of our home. And as I wrote, here in Quebec (Canada), squirrels give last give birth in July, so if there are babies, they are already chewing on something else, though they will need help to survive our coming winter

Oh, no, no, no, I'm so incredibly sorry she passed away. This is so sad. Poor sweet mama, I'm so sorry this happened to you. I'm so sorry she did not make it, but I'm so glad you found her and she let you take her, so she did not pass alone. I pray you find where she came from, and find her babies. Thank you for taking her in and trying to help her. I'm so sad for this.

Thank you so much for being here for us!
I'm going out now, to see ... to HEAR what can be done. It is already pitch black outside.

RIP momma squirrel! :(

Walking around at night in the forest probably is not the best thing to do. Maybe go out first thing in the morning tomorrow? I hope you can find her babies!

I am an Ontario rehabber...the squirrels do indeed have fall babies. The ones I have here are 5 weeks old. They don't usually have them this late...but this year they threw in another season. If they are 4-5 weeks old they will be mobile enough to start moving around when mom doesn't come back. Keep an eye out for them...they are big enough you may hear them calling. Good Luck.

It's been over a week now. I went to see and hear for the babys, everyday the first days without seeing or hearing anything. (:sigh)

Thank you for trying... maybe she didnt have babies out there. Its possible your baby was nursing for comfort... I have a cat that is 3 yrs old and still nurses on my blankets and pillows every night.
