Hi , my loved wild squirrel is going in places were she will be in real trouble and I really need to keep her away . I will do my best chasing her away but it`s not enough and so I was thinking to use a smell . Something bad enough for the squirrel to stay far , but not so strong that people can smell it . Maybe something people could mistake for a food smell
I tried whit my pee and she does not care . She lives in a park so she is probably used to dog pee smell and she goes through the garbage often .
I`m really worried for her and hope so much to find the right solution with your help .
Thank you so much for your help and sorry for having so many questions .
Ps I cannot cook very smelly staff in my kitchen

Likely the most effective would be fox urine. It can be purchased anywhere hunting supplies are sold - google it for a ton of choices. It is very pungent smelling but it is a natural outdoor smell. Squirrels are very afraid of foxes, with very good reason.

Thank you CritterMom , fox urine was one of my first ideas too , but I`m pretty sure it is too strong and strange smelling for the place were I have to put it .
The best would be something smelling like food or something that people use normally .
And in any case if I have to get it shipped it would be good to have something in the meantime .

In a park , sorry for not explaining well Farelli , I m really worried and tired this evening and so I wrote in a hurry without explanations . Not good manners , sorry for that .
Having to put it in a park with so many people and dogs around I was thinking about something smelling like food or a smell usual to people .
I looked at the fox urine and it takes too long for shipping .
Any ideas or suggestions , please help

I have used fox urine. It smells pretty bad but some placed on the ground in an open area will probably not bother people at all. If this area is ope, fox urine would work.

Thank you Tubedriver , I can order the fox urine and see if I can put it there , but it takes too long to arrive .
In all cases it would be good to have something I can find in a short time and use tomorrow or Saturday .
I not expert at all in this , just reading and reading the board to learn stuff , but I remember people using spices or something for house keeping . Are this good solutions
I have seen they have a critter ridder from havahart made with peppers , could that be a good idea
( sorry for the confusing writhing with no question marks , it s not my laptop ... )

Black pepper or peppermint oil are two smells that the squirrels are not so fond of...you can try that...but just i strongly suggest that you head to your local outdoor sporting store and get the Fox Urine...rain will not wash the smell away and just few drops will take care of the situation...and i would be surprised that other people in the park would even smell it...it stinks, but more to animals....I mean, if some kids are playing in the park rolling around on the grounds where you want to spread this solution....then i would think twice! :grin2 Good luck let us know how it goes....

Get the fox urine, in the meantime you could try red pepper.

I will try red pepper and black pepper and peppermint oil . Thanks Morax .
I m afraid the place is not the best for fox urine ( I will post the hole story as soon as I have a moment ) even if I would love to use it after all of you recommand it .
Let s hope there is a second best solution that can work for me
If there are other ideas I ll be happy to try them all .

Watch it with the red pepper. Black pepper is bad enough. They get it on their paws, rub their eyes, and it's a bad scene. They do hate mint though and it doesn't hurt. I wonder how they feel about citronella.

fox urine may be available at any sporting goods or hunting store. surely ya'll hunt in Canada.
i imagine it is available at Walmart if they have those in Canada. I have not been to Canada much shopping, so I don't know what is there.
I would fill up a squirt gun and use it diluted with water for large coverage areas you could add to water in pump sprayer

She is right. Any sporting place including Walmart will have it NOW. Hunters often use to to hide their own scent and hunting season is RIGHT NOW.

Thank you everyone for your answers , TBS is really the best place .
I will check the hunting places here right away .
My only concern is fox urine could be to smelly for the humans , that s way I m still hoping to find a second best option .
What about cinnamon

I'd try mint -- they really hate it. I have several types growing in my herb garden and Krista literally flings herself away if it's on my hands :ohthedrama :grin
