the diet is all explained in my other thread, (crazy 18 month squirrel). i just wanted to know about the sugar because it seems like it could be a good treat.

Plain sugar is never a good treat for anyone really including humans and especially animals.
While humans sort of adapted ( although poorly - hence all kinds of health issues) by eating sugar for many centuries, animals especially wild animals are not adapted to metabolize plain processed sugar.

There are plenty of good treats that have some nutrition like pieces of fresh fruit.

Also sugar often contributes to leaching of calcium.

Yeah, why would you give them plain sugar. At least give them a Snickers bar, it has nuts. LOL
