My wife and I found a small squirrel about 8 weeks ago, since then my wife has raised it and done her due diligence with finding info on how to raise a squirrel and is exactly what she has done. I am happy with this sight because everything has been good. The small problem is now we need to release it and we have noticed over the past couple of days there is a small bald spot on his head above his nose with no redness or chaffing. It is possible with how active he is that it is a scar we didn't notice before all of his hair has grown in, should we be worried?

99.99% of the time, a bald spot in that exact place is from the squirrel chewing on the bars of the cage. He presses his forehead against them and chews...hence the bald spot. Make sure he has branches to chew on; also a cuttlebone (sold in the parrot section of any pet department) or seashell to chew on for calcium is a great idea.

Can you tell us what you've been feeding?
Also know that 13 weeks is about the earliest that release should happen, that most fall squirrels spend the winter with mom in cooler climates (so people with them usually keep them for the winter too), and that when you do relase them, there is a process that we can outline for you.
