We have a seven week old baby he weighs about 130 grams. He has been battling diaharrea for three weeks if not four. We've had him since he was just a few days old. I believe he has been improperly dosed with a few meds first Albon, possibly too much pedialyte and he was also given kaopectate. Unfortunately all of the above have contributed to his present state. He has improved a few times only to fall back again. He is now leaking a yellow tinted mucose like fluid. He does not seem to be dehydrated if so it's just minimal, he is alert and active but not as active as he should be. He has had a few days where he was expelling white diarheea from over feeding we will get him to the Vet on Monday. Any suggestions to help us make it through the remainder of the weekend.

3 weeks is a long time , where are you in Florida and what Doc are you going to.
I would skip a feeding for right now give that body a rest.
What are you feeding him and how often?

We are in Fleming Island just south of Jacksonville. We have been diluting fox valley by roughly 50%.

I would put him on Goat's milk formula.

Three parts Goat's milk
One part Full Fat Vanilla Yogurt
One part heavy cream*
*Leave the heavy cream out for a couple of days, then add it.

There may be other things going on, but many have had problems with little
ones on the Fox Valley lately.

Enzo, I feel your pain. I have six who have been in the same state since Sept. 4 or thereabouts. I have had them on SMZ-TMP per my vet and it has only slowed down the diarrhea in five of the six. I'm tearing my hair out, bleaching everything to death and turning away other baby squirrels because I don't want them getting whatever "it" is. Have you tried the SMZ-TMP? It's also called Bactrim, Sulfatrim, or Trimeth.....it DID help, it just didn't CURE. :dono

I have just been directed to this thread, been off the computer for awhile/ Dr. Paula Jenkins at Maverick is a great choice to see with your sick little one. Chronic diarrhea has been a wide spread problem with all out little squirrels. Dr Jenkins used to be a wildlife rehabber, she'll know what to do. You can give me a PM for my phone number if you like and I can give you something to try before Monday. Good luck and prayers---
