Hi everyone , today my loved wild squirrel went in a bush where she goes every day to bury a nut and when she came out she was holding one of her forepawns close to her body and she moved it a few times a little up and back down . She did not fall and she was alone in the bush . Then she did the things she always does : she looked around for food , she went a moment to rest on a branch , she buried a nut . She looked absolutely normal and acted normal and did things she really didn’t needed to do . When she walked at times she held her pawn closed in a little fist close to her body while other times she walked on it . She was using her little pawn normally to hold the food she was eating and she used it to bury a nut . When she came close to me I felt her little hand between my fingers and she didn’t seem more annoyed than she normally is when I touch her pawn . She put both her pawns on my hand to get a nut and they felt absolutely normal .
I watched her very carefully and I’m pretty sure her foreleg is perfectly ok but something is bothering her on her pawn .
I stayed with her for 20 minutes then I lost her out of sight for 2 minutes and afterwards I could not find her again . I watched in all her favorite places and waited long . It was after 5 pm and I’m pretty sure she went to her nest earlier then normal and I really hope she is having a good good sleep .
I’m a great worrier and when it comes to her I worry so much and I must admit in this moment all I want is to see her and to see that she's fine .
Tomorrow I will go look for her morning and afternoon .
Is there something particular I need to look for ?
Every advice will be welcome and even if it's a small thing every prayer is welcome .
Ps thanks so much to everyone who gave me good advices this spring when I had to leave …. all worked out just fine ….

It's great that you can physically examine her. Doesn't sound like it's too serious and I'll bet she'll be fine tomorrow. Maybe she just poked it or sprained it. If she's still hurting tomorrow, I'd just look to see if she has and cuts or thorns in there.

Thats how all squirrels hold thier paws (one or the other, or both) when they rest. Its perfectly normal. :tilt

Thank you so much for your answer Farrelli . I'm not sure if I will be able to see the pink part of her pawn but I'll try my best . I didn't feel anything with my finger but I couldn't touch her for more than a moment .
Thank you very much Sid'smommy , I have seen them very often hold their pawns when they rest , but she was doing it while she was walking and kept doing it , always with the same pawn , so I think something was really bothering her .
I really really hope she'll be fine tomorrow
