Has anyone ever used or heard of anyone using Nystatin Suspension on squirrels? :dono My little ones have some unknown skin infection which has made its way to their mouths and throats, making it difficult for them to swallow! I am grasping at straws here and looking for anything that will save my little ones!! Please help!

Being that you're in FL, have you seen a vet yet?

Not yet. I was hoping that with all of the meds and helpful people I have at my disposal, I wouldn't have to. The money gods have not been on my side lately! If it comes to that, of course I will!

Nystatin is used for treating oral thrush in people, right? If that is the one I am thinking of I know Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) is also an antifungal and can take its place.... I remember Nystatin has warnings for liver issues in people.
GSE can be bought at Whole Foods this is what I used:

I know price has gone up but a little bottle would go a pretty long way. I used it on myself when I worked at a "sick office" (caught pretty much everything there :/). I have used it with birds and other critters and never had issues. It cleared up my infection after it recurred and didn't take too long. Good luck with your babies :Love_Icon:Love_Icon

Nystatin is used for opossums, also in birds with candida (like thrush in people).
Do you have a weight on these squirrels?
I could PM you the dose from the mammal babies book.

Please update soon. I'm going to bed, but I will send you the dose. I've used it in opossum babies and birds, so I do not think it would hurt a squirrel, especially in short term. Hoping to hear a update soon. Is there anything else that you are giving them that may have caused the skin issue? Allergic reaction, any new sticks/plants put in cage with them?
