Do you see any benefit, or harm in adding this to food once a week?

Benefit. Every day they make more discoveries about beneficial gut flora and how important it is to have it. Who knew that the immune system resides in the gut.
The nice thing about the Lactobacillus is that the body snags what it needs and passes the rest out, so there really isn't a down side. The ONLY thing I would add is to tell the doc if you have blood work done that you supplement with Benebac, because they will SEE those long rods in the blood samples.
Yogurt has this same stuff but they are not required to list how much there is, so you really don't know what sort of benefit is occurring.
Don't heat it - if you put it in something like formula, heat it and cool it to serving temp, THEN add the benebac. It is like yeast - heat will kill the bugs!

Thanks, but this wasn't for me. I have been using the goat's milk mixture, but the animal wouldn't eat it when I added the yogurt. So this will take the place of the yogurt? The instructions said one teaspoon on days 1, 3, 5 and 7 and then once a week, which where I am now.

The one that ran off mom and the babies is still under my shed and is huge. Only one baby is still around and it's under a neighbor's shed. I begged him to leave it alone, and so far he has. The baby is slick and seems to have figured out when the big one will eat and sneaks into my yard to get first dibs on the food bowl in the morning. I figure they will only be around until the middle of November.

Yes, I understood it was for a critter (it is good for us too but I might not buy my own at Petco!). Yes, it will provide the beneficial bacteria that the yogurt adds - more of it, in fact.

I ordered it online. I went to PetSmart, and they had no idea what I was talking about.
