OK I have some questions and an update. My girl curlie is doing better now. Finally got finished with the antibiotics for the uti. It was a uti. But she's lost weight.she's now at 1.1 pounds. She's 7 years old. Is this weight OK? She's lost two ounces since spring. Is it just summer weight loss? She's still eating nut not terribly active. Sleeps a lot. But she's always been a heavy sleeper. In the spring she weighed 1.36 pounds. Is 1.1a healthy enough weight?

Females tend to be smaller then males and I have seen adults even smaller then that. Just keep an eye on her. It is not unusual as they age to loose some weight, happens with most critters (course, us humans tend to GAIN! lol)

I just realized I didn't put what she is. She is a 7 year old eastern grey squirrel. She's been with us since she was 4 weeks old. She just turned 7 in July. She just got over a uti. Could that have messed up her eating? I administered cipro for 12 days I think. Could the ABs have caused her to lose a little?

Yes, ABs really cause upset stomach and kill the good bacteria in the gut. I would suggest getting some yogurt with probiotics or Bene-Bac, which you can get at pet stores. If still on ABs, the probiotics/B-B should be given at different times than the ABs.

She's not on the ABs anymore. Finished those Saturday. But I will hunt down some benebac tomorrow morning. I started her on some fv and ultraboost to get some weight started on her again. Thanks:thankyou
