My husband's friend's father cut down a tree with a nest in it, and two little Eastern Grey "greybys" (just a little older than pinkies) crashed down to the deck below. Mom ran up another tree, and the friend put the babies in a box at the base and she never retrieved them. After a night on Pedialyte and a second on Jackie's awesome GM formula recipe, it was obvious that the mom wasn't coming back although she came down and checked on them a few times. Once they got to me last night, it was obvious that the little girl has a broken pelvis or lower spine injury. Her legs are nearly useless.

I noticed that today, she is pulling up her right leg at the knee a little. She isn't urinating well when stimulated, but she tucks up her butt when her anus is stimulated (and MAN, is she a pooper!). She definitely is not pushing back when you put pressure on the bottom of her feet and press up, and she doesn't close her legs at all. I have not seen her toes or ankles move at all - they are soft and limp and even fold over on themselves. I have not seen her left leg pull up at all like she does the right one.

You can see a little discoloration on her legs and the wound on her tail. The bottom part of the tail to the tip is darker from the top part right at the wound. The seems to be a bit of dark redness where her bladder area is, but thus far her urine is clear and her poops are getting the FV color/consistency. She is on a heating pad in a very small box with her brother on a soft blanket.

Would you recommend massage at this age? My local rehabber said to give it a week to see if there is any improvement, and did not recommend steroids. She is on FV 32/40 and yogurt, but I didn't want to add any calcium in case it threw off absorption of any of the other nutrients that she needs right now (plus I didn't want to stress her gut as she's gone from mom's milk -> Pedialyte -> GM -> FV). Suggestions outside of a quiet, padded, warm habitat? Thank you so much - this is my first real injury. :(

Don't know what meds to give at this point but I would think she could use something for pain.
Once we get to the point where she has rested and healed (to what ever point she will heal) , I can help you with water therapy but I wouldn't do that until later.

Thank you, Simon's Mommy. She is in no pain at all right now, thankfully. We're going to keep an eye on her and see how she is in a week's time. She's up a few grams in weight, so that's good news. :)
