:thankyouI have a 4 week old black squirrel whose currently still in a shoe box as he's just opened his eyes a couple days ago. When would be a suitable time to move him up to a bigger cage? We have a hamster cage he can go into, and a bigger 3 level cage we just bought for him when he starts walking rather than squirming/crawling.
Any comments on how he's doing as well? This is our first in counter with a squirrel and have gotten all our info from this site- thanks!213644213645213644213645

Hamster cage for now as he still needs to be half on the heat pad. Once you see that he never ever uses the hear pad, you should be good for bigger cage. You've got a few weeks. But it'll go by fast. In the meantime, once he's walking, you may need to find a room to ,let him our of the hamster cage and stretch his legs.

These guys seem to think she should be in the box for another week.

Since his eyes are open I would move up to the hamster cage as well. You can keep it partially covered with an old sheet to block out drafts. Keep the heating pad under half of it.
