What kind of cleaning solution is safe to use around baby squirrels? I got a cage and need to clean it. They won't be in it for a while but I like to be prepared.

Table salt makes a good abrasive for getting off tough stains. White vinegar 1 cup to 2 quarts of water is good for a cleaning solution.

Rinse well to remove vinegar smell.

All commercial cleaners are too harsh to use around baby squirrels. Residue from the cleaning solutions may get absorbed through the skin of the squirrel's feet. This could cause serious damage to a baby squirrel.

So I would stick to non toxic cleaners like lemon juice, salt, diluted white vinegar. Another good cleaner that is nontoxic if rinsed well is baking soda. This can be used in places that need scrubbing and works well.
