Just saw this out on one of my back porches. Is it a bird??

I have a feral cat problem and I hear them out and about

tonight so I don't want to scare this what ever it is.212840212841212842212840212841212842

It does sort of look like a bird. Maybe. Actually at first it looked like a teeny tiny porcupine, but I know that's not what it is.

If that's a bird and that's a feather hanging down I'd have to suspect
maybe one of the ferals already got to it amd it's injuried.
:pokeGot a net?

Would it be better to wait for daylight to catch it?

If it's bird it's a big baby bird

It would of had to fly to get up there

]That's a good point but my curiosity would be killing me...

The feather looking thing hanging down says bird but I don't
know about the rest of it unless it's a baby/young predator type,
look at them claws.

Ok I'm more awake now. Upon closer look it is baby bird
with it's head in the corner. 212843212844

Oh sure... You go to bed and here I am researching what's on your back porch
looking through hundreds of pictures of birds. :rock1

I still think it's a Barred owl...

I think you're right... and they love flyers, favorite food....
release that MONKEY else where. but don't get caught!!! Federal offense.
Do not take it inside unless you have to, and if you do, you have to turn over to federally licensed within 72.
they sound like horses to me...in the trees!:eek

I will gladly catch it and send it else where.

I have no need of another predator in my yard.

Was it injured? I have no love of predators, but a baby trying to hide with its head in the corner? It's hard not to feel bad.

Actually a part of me didn't want to help this little one. Just
being honest because I know he will hunt squirrels later.
But I couldn't not help it...it's a catch 22 situation.

I love colorful birds who eat seeds :grin2

Didn't appear to be injured just very scared.

The lady who took it talked non stop about owls
like we talk about squirrels. It's a blessing that
all these different species of wildlife have their
own champions.

Awww, you did the right thing. Yes, they hunt and eat squirrels and bunnies, but so do people. You went with your heart and not your head.

Did you happen to get anymore pics of it? I think baby owls are adorable.

We just released an Owl about hmm two weeks ago, he was with us for almost 10 weeks. Fell out of the nest and into the paws of a cat. have to say it was SO much fun raising this guy , glad you found a place for him to be raised!

I love Birds:Love_Iconno prejudice is right..... ask lili about the call that came in with canadian geese in town..... hanging out on the side walk in front of a cafe... running off all the customers... lili and kit capture and drive to state park with lake for release, all healthy geese...
no one told them they lock the park gates at dark whether you're in or out....:rofl4:rofl4
yes, lili almost spent the night in her car, she has no bird prejudices...:sanp3:grin3

glad the owl was safely relocated...:crazynever a dull moment!:grin2
