I just received a cat caught baby fully furred and eyes open weighing 83 grams. I have done the dosage calculations based on 1/4 of a 250 mg cipro tablet with water and would appreciated a senior member to verify my dosing.

Is taking 1/4 of a pill wise? Is it for certain that they are uniform?

I can quickly send it to you for a full 250 but am short on time and don't want to rush 1/4ing it.

I agree about the using the whole pill rather than trying to divide it properly.

I have a medical grade precision pill splitter used in the medical office I manage but I can dose the whole tablet.

I sent info for the whole pill. The dose should be about .032-.033 CCs after being broken down with 11 CCs of water.

It isn't the precision of the cut I wonder about, it whether the whole pill is uniform, you know, the same amount of the active drug in both sides and the middle. Sorry I didn't do the 1/4. I'm in a rush. Running late already.

Thanks for the replies. I came up with the same calculations. Once hydrated I will start with a loaded dose then split to twice a day dosing along with some yogurt for his GI tract. This baby boy has some injuries to overcome. He came dyhydrated with a puncture wound on his back and a bloody congested nose. I managed to clean his nose a bit and he is breathing better through it. I have a humidifyer going to help his nose and will continue to work on congestion.

I was told NEVER SPLIT a cipro 250...THEY ARE NOT SCORED and the manufacturer suggests no cutting/splitting unless the tablet IS scored..
the medications ARE NOT EVENLY distributed in the tablet.

Send me a PM if you need supplies...or help dosing.
how's the baby today?

Good morning Jackie,

He is doing ok. I have been able to get some hydration into him throughout the night drop by drop. Bless his heart he is so scared. I have cleared his nose some more so the terrible rattle he came in with when trying to breath through his nose is now gone. He still has a bit of nasal discharge but much better now. I ended up with another one from the same finder same size same litter so he has someone to cuddle with.
