Notch is a female wild foxer in my backyard. She has a notch in her right ear. I don't think it is Lucy that I released last year but she very well may be....Notch is preggers. I don't think she has had the babies but her nipples are very prominent but don't look "used." She won't run when I am in the yard. She even walks past me on the fence to go to another tree. We aren't on touching term but she knows me. I am worried about her. Heat indexes are 108+ with temps in high 90's. Today she was breathing so hard just pancaking on a branch that she appears to be shaking - or trembling. She ate a bunch of frozen HHBs I put in the squirrel box today...and I put ice in their water bowl. I know it is hot, but I have never seen a wild breathe that hard. That is what caught my attention. She appeared to be shaking badly. Could she just be breathing hard from the heat? Or maybe she is going into labor? She has been just pancaking around and if I get too close for her comfort she gets up and moves over a branch and continues the shaking.....Has anyone seen this? Just curious....

Poor Notch. Being pregnant during the Summer was the most horrible thing EVER. I was miserable and I'm willing to bet that she is too. I know some people put a fan out with an ice block behind it (maybe in front but behind makes more sense) to blow out cooler air. Maybe try that?!? She could be starting labor. More experienced folks will chime in, but probably late, late or tomorrow.
