I was just contacted regarding a nest found in an air conditioner. It was turned on and all were lost except one. The holders of the squirrel don't know what to do. I asked if they contacted a local rehabber and they said the numbers were all disconnected. Can anyone help them out?

I emailed Foamy the Squirrel to see if she is available to help.

Thanks everyone. I gave the woman instructions for keeping it warm and putting it to bed for the night but I would really like to get help to the baby in the morning. I have her name and number and told her I would try to get her help in the morning. She tried giving it Gatorade but thankfully it wouldn't take it. I told her that she could give it a few drops of water if she wanted in the morning but to hold off to see if I could get help.
The woman thinks it was just born. Totally pink. I asked if she knew it was a squirrel and she said when she turned on the AC, a squirrel jumped out and took off when all the babies were killed by the fan, save this one. I dont know if the mom was hurt. I would assume so. I gave her instructions for giving it a try in the morning to see if mom would come back and take the baby, but I have my doubts.

How awful for momma and her poor babies,
just the image in the mind makes me cringe.
I hope momma hasn't been badly injured and the lone survivor
can get to the help it needs.
This is just terrible...
Poor lost babies never had a chance.
Rest in peace little souls. :sad

Just keeping this on the top of the list of new posts so we can find some help for the baby and finder.
SR...do we know where at on LI? Could you possibly send the finders info to IR & Garden since they may be the closest? Privately in a PM of course.
Did you tell the finder about TSB and the thread you started on her behalf?

I have not been able to get a hold of her. Maybe she is at church. I am on the other side of the country 3 hours earlier and don't know anything about the area and am up to my eyeballs in pickys and injured squirrels so the delays are me going back and forth with the three hour time difference and my schedule and her schedule. I told her I would have someone contact her but don't have any number to give her. I left her a message asking about where on long island she is. I have her name and number if anyone local wants to help me out but so far all I have been able to do is tell her I am still waiting for someone on the squirrel board to provide me their contact number. She said all the numbers she got from the fish and wildlife list were disconnected. Its super hard being on the other side of the country, can anyone help me out? I need a phone number to give her or someone she can contact locally because there is a hungry baby waiting as we go back and forth. Help!!!!!

Thanks Vol4wild. I finally got through. They put it outside this morning and now its gone so they think to mom came and got it. I hope so. I told them to watch the entire time to make sure baby was safe but they just put it out there at 5:30 am and now its gone. Very frustrating when people wont follow basic instructions. Anyway, I hope for the best. Thanks for everyone's help.
On a side note: I tried to get numbers of the New York rehabilitators from the location forum but the link didn't work. Is there a better way we can make contact numbers for rehabbers easier to find?

SquirrelRefuge, bless you for your patience and persistence in trying to help this person. It's very frustrating when we can't communicate effectively with a finder to get basic info like "where on Long Island are you"? For example, Great Neck, Long Island and Montauk, Long Island are THREE hours apart, driving at 4:00am on a Sunday....on a normal day the traffic could easily make it five hours. But the finder never responded....please God let that little one be safe. :(

I bet anything that mom came and got it. You know those mamas don't give up that quickly. She would have been looking for them. I hope she did so she isn't mourning. SR, you are a real trooper! It isn't the first time you were helping on the east coast. You helped me to save a baby a couple of years ago right here in CT.:thankyou:thankyou:thankyou
