Found in Keystone Heights. Who's awake? I'm gonna call Anne and Chaz of -course. I brought mama and babies home in a box. They're in my darkened bathroom. Feel free to call me: 480-334-4915. Thanks!

Also, still being in mama's pouch, I'm figuring babies are still suckling and I know someone told me that could have poisoned the ones I found before. However, these seem much smaller than before, I'm pretty worried about trying to safely get them off the teats. Also worried about warmth if I take them from mama's pouch. Really don't want them to die on me again.

Not sure what you mean, that it's been handled? Sorry I'm posting so quick and short. <3

Haven't removed any from teats, but one came out of pouch on his own, so now we can see there are at least 2 more alive. Okay! I'm taking them to Sandy Rivers in Keystone Heights, on the advice of Ms. Oakley, right now. Thanks Jackie!

Thanks, everyone!! Four live babies have been delivered to a rehabber in Keystone Heights. She feels that they look great, so I'm hoping they'll get to grow up and be happy healthy possums. Many thanks, Jackie, Ms. Oakley and rehabber friend Sandy, Magna and Fireweed. Whew! Very happy with how this is looking. :thankyou:grouphug:Love_Icon

just saw this. I'm glad you found somebody to take the babies. Tubing is scary cause it's so easy to puncture right through the stomach lining or get the tube in the lungs. My mentor is a possum genius and it's pretty much a "feel" getting that tube in just right. Once you do it tho yur good to go. Somewhere on TSB is a link to a short video showing how to tube feed possums. For future reference, always get the babies off a dead mother. Put them in a pouch and put the pouch in a plastic tub with a container of water. Then put the tub on heat. A possum pouch is warm and moist and the co2 level is pretty high compared to a squirrel nest. They need antibiotics--amoxicillin being the AB of choice. The National Opossum Society says all possums need antibiotics but there's debate about that so I'll butt out. Babies that might have ingested spoiled milk from a dead mama surely should have ABs. The dosing is in the Wild Babies Book. Under 20 grams/eyes closed need frequent feedings--like baby squirrels. Thanks so much for caring. Possums are pretty swell critters and it's sad too many people are afraid of them.
