If you were try to get a squirrel eat something, would pure honey or pure maple syrup be better to rub a little on the food?

Probably a bit of either, but what are you trying to get him to eat?

I would try to stay away from honey. I have always been told that sooo maple would be the choice... there is something in honey but I cant remember what it is but I have been warned about it several times.. soo I got with the corn syrup or molasses or maple .. :grin

Honey can contain E coli or Salmonella bacteria from what I understand. What are you trying to get him/her to eat? They can be picky eaters but will not starve themselves. If refusal to eat is prolonged that could be an indication that something is wrong. Have you taken him/her's temp? to see if perhaps he or she is feverish? What is the over-all health of the little one?

Hi, mdyoung216 :wave123
You could try peanut butter, hazel nut butter, almond butter, anything like that. Are these your outside wilds?? You could also mix whatever you want them to eat with mashed up avocado. They like that. :grin
