One of my spring babies was inside munching this morning and I noticed his tail. It looks like it's almost bitten through by something and he has a couple of wounds on one shoulder. I gave him some AB laced pecans and tried to get him in a cage. He was having NONE of that and now I think he's not going to trust me. I'll try getting him in but if he's suspicious I don't know if that'll happen. I'll move the possums from his old cage and see if he'll go in there. Hopefully he'll continue to take the laced pecan halves. It's not as awful nasty hot as it's been so his little system won't have to work as hard to cool down. I should have just let him rest on top of the big cage in the fleece up there. At least he'd be in. Poor little guy.

OH dear. What do you think got him? Might be best not to spook him if he comes daily. Does he? How bad are the shoulder wounds? :grouphug

Shoulder wounds aren't bad to look at. I know squirrel tails can vanish and leave a squirrel happy and healthy but poor boy must be in pain. I should have handled it better. I haven't seen him today but he could have come in while I wasn't there--likely much happier if he doesn't see me. I feel helpless cause it's mighty hard to apologize to a squirrel and get him to listen.

I saw him this morning playing with a little friend. He got another AB laced pecan half. Tail may have a weird kink but it looks like there's healing going on and he hasn't chewed it off. Be healthy and safe little guy! :Love_Icon

I have a wee little girl here, FG, had her since a pinky... she came from a home with many, several small children, not sure if they twisted her tail or if it was fall damage... she seriously has five bends/kinks... 8 inches of bad tail!:grin:nonoI know, not funny... she has never chewed it! and it's fluffy... just crooked!!

Thanks Jackie. That makes me feel better--well--not that he got hurt but that he should be OK. I guess you've had about every configuration of squirrel there is huh?
