Don't start antibiotics until you are advised on what kind of antibiotics and have a weight on the squirrel and after we are fairly certain it is an infection. Please post as much information about this squirrel until others show up to help. What do you feed this squirrel, that is always a primary concern here. What is the history, how did you find this baby, etc.,

Where are you exactly? We might have someone who could help. If no one else comes along, I could post pics for you sometime after 11:00. farrelli-at-rcn.com
What kind of antibiotics do you have available?

Also, are you sure the nail is ingrown? Have you examined the toe to make sure that nothing is wrapped around it? Even a human hair could tie around it and cause it to swell.

I have examined it and nothing is wrapped around her foot and she has been eating a mix of puppy milk replacer and kitten milk replacer with pedialyte. There are 2 of them and the other is doing amazing as so was she until this problem.

Stop with the puppy and kitten milk replacer

Here are a couple pics. What makes you think that it's an ingrown nail? I see general puffiness in the foot but not a particular toe. Also, what antibiotics do you have available?
As to the formula, Garden is right. You should go out to the store and get the ingredients for the goat's milk formula and order some Fox Valley. Here are a couple links for basic baby care along with proper feeding technique, which is super important (if you ever hear clicking when breathing, we need to know immediately).

The swelling looks centered above the fingers in the midpaw/wrist area?

Okay, have you stopped the puppy/kitten mix? NO more pedialyte! Way too much sodium. It is to be used for no more than 24 hours at a time. Is it possible that the nail got caught on something? Maybe towels or something with loops in with him?

Excessive use of pedialyte causes swelling
due to way too much sodium. Most cases I've
seen from this the swelling starts in the front
of the body. This baby needs a lot of flushing
of just plain water and enough of watered down
formula which is safe for babies squees.

Sorry I haven't been in much but she is doing ok seems week but is not having any trouble eating . I am watering down her formula and working on getting some of that fox valley stuff . Is there any sort of anti biotics that would be easy to find that would work? I don't have any around the house so finding some maybe be hard .

Yes it seemed to me to originate around where her thumb was a starting to grow in and it seemed like it is having trouble coming through and maybe that was what has been irritating an causing the swelling ?

lilidukes is correct...excess sodium pools in the lower extremities..
however does not look the case here as only one paw is afflicted...
could be a bite or break...
feel any warmth in that paw?
ask friends with children if they have any ABs on hand...
let us know what you find...
yep, NEVER mix formula with pedialyte, counter productive...
too much sodium can cause kidney failure, heart conditions, and even lead to cancer...
please keep us in the loop..
