im thinkin about getting another ott light , im concerned with the repti glo light as I read about hurting their eyes and I also walk under it being in the ceiling for light , is anyone else just using natural sun bulbs? I use to get them at home depot but they don't have them now

The OTTs and natural sun lights will just cast illumination, not do anything to help metabolize calcium. For that you need UV, and for THAT, you need the reptile lamps. If you buy the TUBE style and not the compact fluorescents, the "being blinded" thik is a non-issue - it is the concentrated "spot" light that does that, not where the light is along the length of tha fluorescent tube.

So if you want UV you need reptile lights. If you just want illumination so it isn't dark, just get regular fluorescents - why pay extra for OTT when it doesn't actually do anything?

thank you for the info, she really seemed to love the brightness and a lot more active tonight, I will still use the repti light I use repti glo 10.0uvb 26 w, I hope it doesn't hurt my eyes over the time when I walk in to clean or feed sometimes I forget to turn it off , I leave it on all day, of course she is not always under it, how much of this lighting do you think she needs, should I just keep doing that? its been 8 years and shes doing great!!!! thanks again
