Here is a situation that someone observed:

Samuel is a wild young adult male that visits this person often. He is extremely sweet and gentle and lets her pet him. Today she noticed he was having a hard time with an unshelled almond. He let her get her eyes right up to his mouth, and he is missing both his top and bottom sets of incisors.

later, after he ate some almond butter on a lid, it looked like there were tiny teeth marks. If those were, indeed, tiny teeth marks, there is a possibility that his teeth are really really tiny and/or coming through or something.

There seems to be no blood or any visible injuries.

Has anyone observed a wild squirrel with this kind of problem?
What might have caused this?
What are his chances of the teeth growing back?
Any advice, suggestions, thoughts are very welcome.
:thankyou

Is it possible that they are curving back rather than not being there at all? Poor little guy...:grouphug :Love_Icon :grouphug
Thank goodness he has her to watch over him!!!:Love_Icon

I've always heard that no incisors is a death sentence and that they should be taken in. Can he be held for observation to see if they regrow, or can she consistantly provide proper food outdoors?

I agree someone should take him in to see how well he can eat.. If his teeth grow back in he'll be fine if not he may be in need of a forever home.. As for now small pieces of food that he can chew with his back teeth..:D good luck..

I would do everything possible to catch him and bring him in to observe. If his teeth got broken off somehow they'll probably grow back in, but need to be watched to see if they're normal or not. If he has a malocclusion that caused them to break off in the first place someone will need to decide if they want a NR.

thank you everyone for responses.

yes, it will all depend on what's going on with the teeth, and if they are permanently damaged - he will have to be brought inside. Not sure if this is feasible.

will post updated when/if I have them
