Naturally when the Squirrels in the front sound the Cat alarm I go out and save them. Well the other day the alarm sounded and I had visions of prides of Lioness out in the yard the way it was carrying on. I went out and said my usual "What, Where is it?" to the Squirrel and sure enough the Squirrel looked right over at the Cat. It was a new Cat to the neighborhood so I figure that is the reason for such a loud alarm this time.

Anyway my question is - how much of our language do they understand? I know Dog's and Cat's and other animals pick up quite a bit - but how much do Squirrels pick up? Considering they are outside friends and don't live in here with me.

My personal opinion is that they and other animals don't necessarily understand our words but do pick up on our meaning:tilt Squirrels are very intelligent and if your outdoor squirrels see and hear you quite a bit, I bet they know a lot about you and your intentions:)

When I searched "the most intelligent non-human animals, squirrels were in the top 10:thumbsup

By the way, your photo in your signature, is one of my favorites. I have it on my refrigerator:D
