Hi everyone! Quick question, I have two males that I released a few weeks ago. They are doing fabulous. Still come to get their Wild Bites and treats when I whistle and set up camp in the nest box I put near the release cage. I have since put the three babies in the release cage who are next to be released. They will be 4 months the end of May. The question is...do I need to move the whole release cage before releasing the 3? There are two males and a female and I'm worried about fighting. I can put up more nest boxes (I'll put 2 in every tree if I have to!), I just don't want anyone getting hurt! I can move the cage, I would just have to find some heavy duty guys to help me, LOL. Opinions? Help? Advice? mjs

I wouldnt move the cage...... but I would place another nest box (or two) up in the trees for the new squirrels that are going to be released to settle into and I would give it a good month to a month and half in between each release to allow the other squirrels enough time to find their place in the wild.

Wonderful! I have no problem waiting awhile before releasing the babies. Takes a huge weight off my mind not to have to move it, LOL. Thanks!

Hey Squirrelgurl, Toybox here!
Congratulations on your releases.
I don't know where you are Down South. Wife and I are in Northwest Florida. We don't travel other than locally.. However if you are nearby I'm a big burly (old) handyman when I need to be. grin
I'd be glad to help anyone (small projects) in the near area with hanging nesting boxes, helping to move release cages, etc.
I know you don't need to move yours. -- Still others might and I'm willing to lend a hand if needed.
Again Well Done for the Squirrels,:thankyou
Dave

hi Toybox (Dave)! I am actually all the way in NE Texas, but man if you were closer I would take you up on that in a heartbeat!! Thank you so much! I am getting better at my lonely carpentry skills (we also have milk goats, chickens, ducks, cows, etc. that all need something built!), but man I get a lot more done when the hubby is local! He travels a lot for work :(
