Frick's nose started swelling last week and we thought he had gotten into a fight how ever today he has stayed in his old release cage in the cube so I went to check on him. His nose is much worse now and I am wondering if it could be Pox. There are no other sores on him at all except his nose.

I have closed his cage so I can keep an eye on him and give meds. I need to know if you guys think this is pox and how do I treat him?

I do not think it's pox, personally.
Looks like an infection of some sort.
I would start antibiotics and treat it locally with antiseptic wash and triple antibiotic cream of some sort.
Just my opinion.

With pox, there would be sores everywhere.
If this has been going on a while and this is the only spot, I don't think it's pox.

Perhaps he scratched it a while back and from all the pushing the nose in the dirt, got the scratch infected.

Does this remind anyone of little Grayson's injury and how he started off?

I think Frick just scraped his nose bad. Willie did the same thing last year.
Poor Frick, ouchie!:sanp3

Looks a lot like cottontail nose injuries after they run into the wire cage. They have noses small enough to get through then they pull back and tear up their nose. I'd watch to make sure he isn't sticking his nose through trying to bite the bars or if he has nuts outside the cage nearby he might think he can get his nose through to get them or something.

Thanks guys, he has been released for a month now and only came back to the cage/cube today. He has been staying in the big oak tree next door. I will keep him up and start him on meds.
Hubby tried to give him a nut but Frick didn't want it. Just left it there.

I am very glad to hear it is not pox. :thumbsup I was worried, but we still have to treat that boo boo!! I am working on that now.

Thanks for posting the link to Grayson NINY and SSM, it seems to be the same kind of thing going on with Frick.
