I've had Flip for a month or so. He was about 4-6 months already. I know I have to be patient on the bonding as he is VERY timid around humans. I have gotten him to take the occasional treat from my hand a couple times. Problem is...he rarely wants to come out of his cage....when he does it is for maybe two minutes and does check me out and then goes back in his cage for the rest of the time....I have tried taking out his nest box when I come in and locking his cage so he doesn't go back when he comes out....He seems paranoid about getting in his cage and not much interested in exploring....and then I feel bad and let him in his cage....Any suggestions? Is this mean? I can't stand to see him freak out. I've tried the read a book and ignore him from across the room, from next to his cage, etc. and he just seems content to flip in his cage or freeze in his cage and stare at me for hours.....ANY IDEAS??? I've tried a few times to have him on me during the day in a pouch but he almost always wakes up and wants OUT. And I am just sitting at my computer....I am being VERY patient, just didn't know if anyone had any other tricks. :thankyou

You can find some good bonding advice on this site (care section) --they were written for sugar gliders, but can be used for flying squirrels as well.
Good Luck!@
