Rocky (a female squirrel) fell out of her nest. She still had her eyes closed when I found her. Was able to raise her and then release outside. She still comes to visit and loves to be kissed and have her belly and back scratched. Last night when she came to visit and get some peanuts I noticed that her front right paw looks like it might be broken at the wrist. She has it curled under and is not using it. She was making noise like she was trying to tell me what happened but I don't speak squirrel. What can I do?

First, I have to comment on your name. Thank-you if it means what I think it does.:grouphug
Now, on the the squirrel question...I think the best you can do is keep an eye on it. Squirrels have an amazing healing ability and she will probably heal right before your eyes. Maybe giving her some healthy foods to help with her nutrition which also helps healing. See how she is today and let us know. We can see if there is anything more we can suggest.

Yes it does mean what you think... My son was KIA while in Afghanistan in 2009.

I am glad to know that squirrels have amazing healing ability but I am now worried because I haven't seen her all day. I am hoping that she is in her nest recouping from her wounds. Thank you for replying to me.

Also, what kind of healthy foods would you suggest?

I am so sorry for your dreadful loss. I am a member of the V.F.W. ladies auxiliary and my heart is with you.
Fresh veggies and avocado and fruit. Yogurt (full fat no artificial sweeteners) is healthy, but not sure a wild will eat it. Be sure there is fresh water available too. Thank-you so much for trying to help this girl!:Love_Icon :thankyou :Love_Icon

We have an AWESOME member who is 30 minutes away from you. If you could catch her Jackie would look at her and she is one of the best with injuries!:thumbsup
Here is the thread I started for you in Life Threatening:

Thank you Sammie's Mom. I still haven't seen Rocky today so I am still hoping she is in her nest resting and healing. I saw that Jackie lives in Tampa so she is close. If Rocky shows up and I can get her to come to me I will see if I can somehow get her to Jackie.

Thank you also for the condolences. If you would like to go to my website for the non-profit I started in his honor to support our Veterans, Military Service Members, Blue Star and Gold Star Families the website is www.mywarriorsplace.org.

Once again thank you for the advise on how to help my squirrel. :thankyou
