Carlala you have GOT to get us some pix of them! I can't imagine what spotted squirrels would look like -- unless they are Rock Squirrels which I think are only in California......:thinking

Spotty squirrel seen in Stockholm
May 2012. These photos of a very unusual squirrel have been sent to us by Pia Brännvall from Sweden. Pia saw this squirrel near her house in Sweden.
The white spots on the squirrel are very odd - And there could be a couple or three causes to this unusual colouring.
Hybridisation - The animal could be the offspring of a red squirrel and a.....? Trouble is, there are no suitable candidates that live any where near Stockholm.
Disease - Is there any disease that might effect the squirrel this way?
Leucism - Leucism is a very unusual condition whereby the pigmentation cells in an animal or bird fail to develop properly. This can result in unusual white patches appearing on the animal, or, more rarely, completely white creatures. This seems the mostly likely explanation.
