Some of the baby birds at the wildlife center. Maybe psychobird can come on and identify the 3rd and 4th pictures for us! :D

Wren popped into my head but let me look again
Do you know what color the inside of her mouth is?

Yes I think it's a wren, won't know what kind of wren till her feathers fill in more

I will get one tomorrow. I should have paid attention, I fed all of them today. LOL, just forgot about using the color of inside of mouth for identification.

The inside of the mouth is yellow. Janet (the director) thinks she's a chickadee. What do you think?

Look what I picked up off the road, while going to pick up a cat caught rabbit. Two rescues in one....

It's a loggerhead shrike.
Just sittin there in the opposite lane when I blew by, and didn't move. I did a
u turn, pulled over, snuck up behind it and threw a cloth over it. Very easy catch.
I guess it got clipped by a car, no obvious injuries, taking it to CWRC in the am if it makes it through the night.
I am really excited because I have never ever seen this species.

Can't tell you how many time I do u turns to check out that
Lump of tar, shoe, bag, clump of dirt, leaf ect ect ect that I imagined looked like a bird or something! Lol

We say, awww..... poor box, poor piece of rope, damn, it's a shoe... well...it never stood a chance.

The shrike was fine this morning and I released him in the same place I found him. He flew off fast like he knew where he was going! Success!

Can't even guess how many fishing line and fish hook injuries I have seen
I grew up fishing, but I really hate the sport now

Just wanted to let yall know CWRC is still going strong.... Many pelicans, some blue herons, owls, hawks, and even one bald eagle has come through the doors this winter.
Wanted to share with you the successful hawk release last fall. He had a broken femur, had a k e apparatus (sp?) put in, held almost 3 months for healing, and released, couple pics of the release here.
