Hello, Everyone it's been a few summer's since I've been on. My little Hammy is all grown up and happy.
My problem is I just received a baby grey that is clicking. We all know what that means... I'm trying to get the antibodies but the clinic where i usually get it is out. No one else wants to sell it for undomesticated animals. I seen on here you all have tried Baytril? Where can I purchase it and how is it given? That is a new one for me. Usually I get Cefilaxin(pink med).
Please send response quick before he gets worse.
Thanks in advance,
Tazsquirrel

Cipro is the human form of baytril and is very common, especially in women because it is frequently prescribed for UTIs. Can you call around and ask your friends if they have any?

Hope one of our FLa members see this soon and can offer you some help,
baytril or the human equiv. cipro is what is best to use. They are both scrip RX and have to be obtained
through a vet/Dr. Keep checking back, I'm sure someone will respond soon that can help you.

You can get Baytril without a script online, and most seem to be legit, but not only does it take a bit of time to get it (unless they offer overnight), you're kind of rolling the dice. Hopefully someone here can help or you can find a friend. If not, you might have to order online.

Oh, some pet stores also carry it without a script for birds and reptiles. You can ask for baytril or enrofloxacin. If you can find any of this, people can help you dose. Obviously time is of the essence.

Cefilaxin?? Could you mean Cephalexin (aka Keflex?)
If so, could you still get it? Could be used, it's better then nothing.
Enrofloxacin is Baytril.

Thanks everyone for a quick response. I have a few options I'm looking at now. I'll check back with you if they fall through. I know time is what matters most.Usually I just call the vet and got it. But he was out so I freaked out. I hate it when a vet tells you they only deal with domestic animals. All of them are God's creation. Anyways thanks and I'll keep all posted.

Were you able to get any antibiotics?

great.. thanks for keeping us in the loop...:thumbsup

just a head's up.. keflex is very slow and although it does have some respitory properties.. it's more of a skin crude AB...
better than not I guess... but aspiration pnuemonia will take a baby sq fast.. I always opt for top shelf big dog ABs.. cipro or baytril is best imo.
we're here if we can help..
btw, I did PM Tina, crazy4squirrels, so she may try to contact you directly..
PS I have a vet's name that will treat sqs near you ..he is well loved and highly recommended!:)
