View Full Version : average weight
Is there a site I can go to, or get it here, some kind of chart that tells me the average weight for a squirrels age?
my babies are a little underweight so I am keeping a closer eye, I think a chart could help me

The variation in size is too much to have a "standard" I think. How much do they weigh now? They should gain quite rapidly at their age.

A couple of years ago I had 4 squirrels that were severly malnourished.
I just went back into their thread and read that their eyes were all opened and they all weighed over 100 grams.
Your's are almost 4 weeks old now, and typically eyes open around 5 weeks.
Yours weighed 45 grams yesterday.
Time to fatten up those babies.
I have increased their feeding to 3cc per feeding every 2-3 hrs, so far they are doing really well with it (: I have a scale and will be weighing them quite a lot and closely monitoring!

I always am happy when babies open their eyes if they are over 100 grams. I know Florida greys are even smaller than out Georgia greys. I have had them open their eyes much younger, all depends on the circumstance, sometimes 75grams - 90grams with a large litter that was found only many days after being separated from mom.
All that said, I *think* things sound on track well enough...
