My gray squirrel Pecan is sick. I think he may be posioned. I saw him with a english ivy leaf yesterday. it fell on his cage and he pulled it through. I took it off of him but I know he ate some. This morning he seemed fine but I started to wonder about him later when he wouldnt come out of his house. I reached in to see if he was ok but he was very lethargic and only moved around when I tried to get him out. he did try to nibble me or squeak even though I was pulling on him to get him out. The only other thing he had that might make him sick was a bad nut which he drops but he might have eaten a little. He has a good diet vetables nuts and henerys. He lives in a large 6X6X8 cage out side with a heated box to sleep in. I spend about 2 hours with him daily. some on please help and let me know if there is anything I can do for him. I love him so. He is about 9 months old
Thanks Julia

I found this:

I would imagine trying to push fluids to help flush his system. Do you know how much he ingested?

Found this as well:

he didnt eat too much that I saw but I cant say that he did not have others that I did not see. I have covered the top of his cage so he cant do this again. Another thing I thougt of could be an oak branch I gave him to chew. It had little black hard growths on the bark...I removed the bark before I gave it to him but I worried i missed some. I guess I will try to get him out of his house and bring him in to the house so I can give fluids and maybe some fox valley and or calcium just in case. I also must correct my original post ...He did not try to nibble me which means something is =very wrong

Thanks, for your help.
Pecan is better today. I think maybe the little he ate just gave him an upset tummy. This morning he ate and played almost normal!:thankyou

Thank goodness.... I'm glad Pecan is ok. It's spring now and plants are going to start growing out of control, be sure to cut back or dig up anything questionable that might grow near his cage. Also, oak limbs are ok, I give them to mine all the time.

Hey what part of Alabama are you from?
Just wanted to say HOWDY NEIGHBOR!!! :wave123 :D
