How long do babies need to be on a heating pad for? Mine are almost 6 weeks.

Until they stop using it.
I know that sounds like I am being a smart a$$, but it's the truth. If they are still going for the heat it means they need it. When they stop going for it for about a week straight, it's a safe bet they do not need it anymore.
Personally, my guys have access to heat until they are 10 weeks old (minimum) and only at that time do I even consider taking the heating pad out.

Sammy used it until he was 4 months old or even a bit older. He enjoyed being a baby...:Love_Icon :Love_Icon

Thank you! I'm changing them over to their cage and I wasn't sure if they would still need the pad. I'll leave it till they show me they do not need it.

All my squirrels are off the heating pad by the time they are 8 weeks old...... any time after this and you run the risk of them starting to gnaw on the extension cord which can be dangerous with in its self.
If you are switching over to a bigger cage I would for go the heating pad and give the little guys some fleece blankets to snuggle up in --in their wooden nest box or cube, which ever one you are going to use for their sleeping quarters.
