Hello, I have been helping with some baby raccoons and I was wondering if the goats milk formula would be better than KMR for the babies. They are very young around a week.

Please help so I can go get the formula for the little ones. I think the KMR is too harsh from them if any one has any advice I would greatly appriciate it. :thankyou

I am sure Fox Valley sells a milk replacement for raccoons...
Here's the link

I'm not sure what to give in the meantime, goats milk seems to be an all around good temporary substitute for most mammals.
The Wild Mammal Babies book says that raccoons that cannot digest KMR can be placed on Goat's Milk Esbilac or Esbilac.

I've always used Esbilac or the Goats Milk Esbilac - raccoons are similar to dogs - until I can get FV if I don't have here
Not kidding the FV raccoon is the best thing on earth.

The rehabbers in this area that take raccoons all used KMR (not Esbilac),
but most have figured out that FV is way better, seems to elmiminate a lot
of the stool issues that KMR had been causing. :thumbsup
(I don't know the exact one, but it will tell you which is for raccoons!)

Yes, Fox Valley is really the ticket here. I have huge tubs of it. I've had tummy issues with everything but. Many rehabbers here are still old school with homemade formulas but really nothing is better than FV. You will be shocked how its dissolves and how well they thrive.
And be sure as soon as they are stable to DE-WORM!!!! 85% of baby raccoons have round worm!!!
I have rehabbed a lot of baby raccoons and have never found anything better than the Fox Valley formula, plus they love it! Gie Nick a call.

I know right? I had a massive stash of the old old Esbilac in my deep freezers - I was a hoarder of it by accident - it was the old formulation - then I bought new - not the same. Switched to Fox Valley - and WOW.

Raccoons are pretty hearty souls - my vet friend who's a rehabber makes some old school formula (he's 60) and they always live - but then again -he's a vet - if they get sick - he takes them to himself!!! LOL.
PS - yes they make me go broke - It was a dream when I had 10 big tubs of old formula Esbilac donated - OMG - HEAVEN - Raccoons are piggies :-)
Go easy on the yogurt. It may give them the raccoon runs! Nothing is as easy to digest than goats milk, that is why we always used it before packaged formula.
