I have a female fox squirrel that is just under one year old. I recently noticed that she has a small patch of hair missing from one of her back legs and hair missing around her rectum. In both these spots the skin seems dry, she has bitten them so there is now a bit of dried blood. This only started happening recently and im not sure what is causing it, when I touch those areas she doesn't seem to be in any pain. My only guesses are her diet or could it possibly be caused from boredom/depression? She is extremely bonded to my boyfriend and often times seems very depressed when he is away from the house for an extended amount of time. He recently took a new job where he is working 14 hours a day, 6 days a week, I noticed this happening shortly after he took the job. I am home a lot of the time but she makes it very clear that she is a daddy's girl and doesn't get "excited" to see me like she dose when he comes home. I tried letting her out to play with me but she usually just lays up in her nest and looks at me, waiting for her daddy to come home. We checked her over thoroughly for any signs of bugs and cant find any. I am at a loss as to what this could be from, if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks.
