So, my chihuahua found a wounded squirrel this afternoon and started to care for it by sweetly licking off the blood from its abdomen. After i noticed she was with the squirrel i immediately took her in my care and didnt know what to do? Five minutes after putting her in a box i noticed my dog scaring the cat away and there it was another wounded squirrel. So, now i have two wounded squirrels, not knowing what to do. i immediately started reading online on many websites and decided to make a homemade natural recipe. Went to whole foods and made this recipe:
1 cup goats milk
1 raw organic free range egg yolk
1 tsp raw honey
1 tsp powdered collostrum
.
The second squirrel i found is swallowing the water and seems to be recuperating but the first squirrel shes doing poorly, she doesn't even have energy to swallow. She has bites on her lower abdomen tail and a broken leg.
HELP! What do i do?

They need antibiotics immediately...cat and dog saliva is deadly to them. Do you have any human antibiotics at home ??? Cipro would be the prefered med.
What kind of squirrels ? how old? can you get a picture?

there are lots of them in Florida, and they will know better than me who is close and can help you.

Resized the larger ones for you:

If the little one is so weak she may be very dehydrated and absolutely needs to be rehydrated. o NOT give her formula at this stage. Instead, give her Pedialyte - you can make a homemade one with 1 qt of warm water, 3 TBs of sugar, 1 tsp of salt. Go slowly but keep pushing the liquid. It's important: if she gets too weak she will go downhill very fast from there. Keep pushing the liquid. If you need to, put a drop of apple juice in the pedialyte, to make it more tasty. You could put some polysporin on the wounds but you will need antibiotics - the oly won't be enough, it's just to keep the infection from getting worse too fast.

I answered too quick but also meant to say... :Welcome to the board and thank you for taking these little ones in. :)
Adding a note here...
The pedialyte is good for 24 hours in the fridge. Do warm it up (has to be warmer than your own body for a squirrel). You may want to consider, as an alternative, offering pecan flavored Ensure to her. It's easy to digest and they usually like it - it will also help to rehydrate her. The pedia however is the best.
If you don't have an electric pad to place under half of the box, then you can make a rice buddy - uncooked rice inside a sock and placed in the microwave for 45 seconds. Shake and move the rice around to avoid hot spots, and make sure it is not TOO hot. Place it in the box with a fleece blanket or old t-shirt.
Praying for these little ones.

:morning God Morning All
I talked with Karinaquiroga earlier.
We need some one in the Miami Fl. Area with Baytril and some FoxVally.
She is going to order the FoxVally but it will be a few days.
Now For the Baytril. This Baby needs to be on the Antibiotic at least 7 days. I would treat as if The Cat Attacked Him also. Cat Bites are so Deadly. You would not be able to see all the Scratches until it was to late.:shakehead
Karinaaquiroga is doing such a Wonderful job with this Little Boy. He is almost back to being fully Hydrated. Good Job Karina :grouphug
Be sure to Look around for 1 or 2 more Babies in that same area. :thumbsup3
PS
Jackie, Who Rehabbs around the Miami Area, That would be willing to Help, or has Baytril???
Is their a TSB Friendly Vet in that area?

are you willing to take him to a sq friendly vet for the baytril?
we have a member in miami that has a vet down there..
she will also be traveling to tampa this week, however she does not have any meds on hand. Please PM me if interested in the info and I will call her.
I am sorry the other sweetie has passed, cats can be evil unattended outside.
You can also ask friends what anti biotics they have on hand...human or pet meds.
good luck little one, thank you for helping them.

I do not know any rehabbers that far south.
I do know a wonderful vet that treated one of my very sick squirrels when
I was in Ft. Lauderdale. She has left the practice she was with and now
works independently (house calls) and with an emergency clinic in the area.
Hopefully you can get meds and if you need a reputable rehabber ask her for the referral.

Make sure that they do not euthanize if he is deemed releasable.

You have to make ABSOLUTELY SURE that they won't euthanize him when you take him in. I know that squirrels are legal in Florida, but please call to confirm before you take him in.
