We have an approximately 2 week old that is showing signs of pnemonia. Is there anything we can do? Should we continue to attempt feedings while this is happening?

:Welcome I want to help. Your pinky will need Baytril (antibotic from vet) ASAP, like now if possible. Will also need a weight in grams for dosage.

PS. Where are you in SC?

If you don't have Baytril (enrofloxacin), the human equivalent is Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) which is widely prescribed, especially for women with UTI's. Ask your friends, someone probably has this and antibiotics are CRITICAL to fix this and are needed ASAP. If you have neither and can't get them, do you have any other antibiotics available?

this squirrel is approximately 2 weeks old. Any idea of dosage? I have a vet that can administer.

Dosage is based on weight. Do you have a kitchen scale, ideally digital? Weight in grams is ideal, but it can be converted if other.

Thank you to all who replied. We got the dosage in her and will continue to treat. She seems very weak and I'm afraid to feed her. Ya'll pray for this baby tonight.

Sending love and prayers to your baby. If you have a warm mist vaporizer it may help her breathe.

Thank you for your prayers and help. Unfortunately this little baby expired in the afternoon. I missed her symptoms of pnemonia and learned a huge lesson in this. I'll continue to learn and hopefully make up for failing this sweet little one.

Thanks ya'll. We will get better an continue to learn. I'm so glad we found such a responsive forum to sound off on. This was the first pinky we had encountered and man are we sad we didn't know/do more. We would like to become certified or licensed to provide care.
