You are not doing any harm by feeding them, especially during the winter months when their own natural food supply is limited.....
lets just make sure you are feeding the squirrels good quality food that actually benefits them.
Here is a list of foods and nuts that are good for them to eat.

The nuisance matter is a little more difficult....... what are your city laws? --do they deem squirrels nuisance animals, are they protected or not?

The problem is that people in this position are not interested in the facts, or the truth, or doing any critical thinking at all. They just want you to do what they want you to do, whether it makes sense or not. DO NOT CONFUSE ME WITH THE FACTS!! is pretty much what you can expect. God save us from condo associateions and village associations and homeowner associations, especially when staffed with folks that don't have much to do.
My suggestion would be to see if you can take your feeding underground. Is there an area in your yard that isn't right out in view of everyone? Put the food there. They will find it VERY quickly even if you move it to a completely different place.
I hate to say it but I think your time will be better spent coming up with a way to feed your pals without drawing attention to them than fighting your village association...

You are so right and i have gone underground lol i have a big wood six foot fence around my property. No one can see me feeding them but the squirrels leaving my yard with food in there mouth. I think that is what I'm being busted for now.Plus the fact there is no law or ordinance on feeding them. That is why they are using the nuisance ordnance. But wow you hit it right on the head the village don't care. I have been fined 750.00 1st time and now I'm hit with one more for 500.00 I just care about animals and just wanted to help them.

Can you go to court and contest? You might even want to consult with a lawyer.

Can you go to court and contest? You might even want to consult with a lawyer. That would depend on what her city laws are... she needs to see if her city deems squirrels nuisance animals or not --if they do deem them nuisance animals she does not have a law to stand on.

I think my village is the only one that thinks its a nuisances and they are the only ones that deem that . Not the law but i will now look into the DNR to find out. Thank you all you have all been helping me . Id like to find some animal advocates that could help me.....
