Hi all,

I have found a squirrel by the side of the road today. I do not know what to do. I took him to the vet, but here in London UK, grey squirrels are seen as vermin and put down if given to most vets. There is no sign of bleeding anywhere, and seems capable of movement, however, it is erratic. He goes around in circles and then suddenly stops, and goes all limp. When I picked him up he wouldn't leave my coat, i imagine cos it was warm. it would fiddle and faff, run around in circles, but return to bury itself inside. I think it's got chances of surviving.

Do you have any contacts in London? Also, it's NYE today, not ideal timing to find suitable care.

At the moment it's in a box with woollen things and some broken nuts and water.

any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks

:Welcome marta. Thanks for trying to save this poor squirrel. It sounds as if he has sustained some head trauma -- that explains the circling and falling. I will send messages out to the few rehabbers we've had here in the London area and hope one of them responds. In the meantime, Dark Warm and Quiet are the magic words, as well as make sure he can't get out of whatever you've got him in. They can make amazing swift recoveries and suddenly they are all over your house!

Marta, this link will give you a large list of UK rehabbers to get you started. You can determine over the phone with them whether they are open to treating a grey squirrel before you set foot out the door.....:thumbsup
