We've got an eight year old squirrel who was rescued about a year ago from a pet shop and had a HUGE tumor removed. She's been fine for some time but now has lost all appetite for the last few weeks, has been losing weight, has an internal infection (as per the vet), possible pneumonia, a low white count, and low to moderate level MBD (the treatment for which is kind of on the back burner due to being immunocompromized. She's on antibiotics and calcium/D but we still can't get her to eat. Today we're posted the labs but haven't gotten any insight as to what they might mean. Anyone know what's typical for a squirrel and how these might compare?

Thanks! We really want to save this old girl.

The normal values are to the right of what your squirrels results are. High glucose is sugar/pancreas, urea is kidney, alk phos is liver, also has low protein. Since so many organs are involved that is why the doc is treating for an internal infection. What kind of tumor was it? If a malignant one, it could have metastisized to the other organs and the cancer is affecting them rather than an infection.

I believe that it was benign and was removed a year ago.

If you have specific questions or input, please go to the original thread so that the squirrel's parent can see it.
