I have 2 VERY large Christmas cactus, and 3 smaller ones. They are completely covered with beautiful buds right now, right on schedule :) They usually are in full bloom on Christmas day. Squidsy has never bothered with these before, but just recently has taken a liking to them. (Digging and such..:nono ) Just wondering if these flowers are toxic for squirrels ? Im worried she will snatch the flowers off the floor when they start to fall. (even though I sweep several times a day)

I am not positive, but I've always been under the understanding that most succulents are highly poisonous. I always err on the side of caution, unless I am 100% positive and have seen the wilds outside eating and chewing on that type of tree/plant I do not give it to rehabs or Ellie.

It is non-toxic to cats and dogs and most likely other animals. I have a perfectly healthy cat here that ATE not just destroyed 4 of them last year as well as 3 aloe vera plants (Easy (the cat) is a terror to plants). I don't think it will harm your squirrel. you just might not want him to have much of it.

She is not allowed to dig in any of my plants...but telling her NO doesnt work:nono . I have had to fill them all with rocks to make it harder for her to dig. The 2 big christmas cactus are over 20 years old, hard to get rocks in there...:thinking . I will try to put them where she cant get into it too much.
Thank you! :)
to be safe i'd put them under glass or give them away.
when i had my rabbits any plants that i had were in large glass bowls so there was no chance of them having access to them... no dropped leaves etc....
i would consider them poisonous either mild to toxic ... just to be on the safe side.
we really don't know what effect some of these plants will have on a squirrel .... not the same as cats or dogs unfortunately.
one of our members was told poinsiettas were fine and her squirrel died...
