what nuts can they NOT have ? i just read chesnuts are iffy so I def won't give those. What others? We can buy them in shell by the pound and I was going to do so and freeze them while they are selling them. May not be selling them long.

I was told that buckeyes are toxic so I don't give any of those to my kids.

Pine nuts (which I doubt are being considered), and I've heard that Brazil nuts are questionable. I know that some people offer them once in a while, and I can see how that wouldn't be bad, but even in humans, too many are bad because they contain a boatload of selenium.

Most people shy away from them, I think. The are SUPER high in selenium, and even humans are not really supposed to have more than 5 at a sitting due to possible selenium OD. If you given them, I'd just give tiny pieces, and not too often.
Like hickory nuts they have a tough thick shell. Excellent for keeping teeth ground down. Like farrelli said, give very sparingly.
