View Full Version : Tampa Area Squirrel Rehab Needed Immediately!

I successfully raised and released a squirrel this time last year, some of you may remember Butters, a wonderful woman in the area took her in during her final months and released her with other squirrel's her age.
Anyway, a neighbor found a young squirrel, guessing to be about 6-7 weeks old. Trying to get her hydrated. Her tail is badly injured but she is actually doing very well otherwise. Unfortunately I am unable to raise this one as I did the last and am looking for someone in the Tampa area that may be able to help.
I live in Clearwater, on the West side. I can bring her to you.

I will be in Clearwater tomorrow morning working. I'm not able to take her tonight, but may be able to get the squirrel from you tomorrow, if it can wait till then, and care for her for a day or two until I can get it to Jackie if the squirrel is stable.:) I'll check back in a little while and again in the AM to see what's going on. :)

as I was getting ready to leave..I went to tuck him in and there was vomit everywhere, 5 dime sized spots resembling mashed potatoes... no bile, very thick...
so I stayed with him and Sam drove here..
I did not sleep much either...
he seems better, almost normal this AM..
got up and ate hazelnuts and romaine and went back to bed..
I gave him cipro last night..he is so immune compromised, I cannot allow any bacteria bugs to get him...so the AB was precautionary..
doing a Rocky watch today...so far he seems okay.
I am grateful for each day with him, knowing those days are limited...
very complex emotions..I have no words to how I feel...
my guy is in his winter.
and it hurts

Jackie please don't despair....have hope for him.
You have seen worse cases come through,
and help always comes, have faith.
Please call your vet and give her a chance to fix this.
The funds will be sorted out one way or another.

Exactly Jackie.........I didn't even see this until now.
Save this baby, we can figure it out later.
Please remember too that for most of us, the new post feature doesn't
work.
If something like this comes up again, post in the emergency section.
I think I speak for most when I say that this time of the year, that is
the ONE section that I absolutely go to daily several times.

MJS - here's the info on how to make a CC donation to TSB...it is also the signature line of Sammy's Mom, the TSB Treasurer.
TSB Fund has given $3000 in assistance this year! We would like to thank everyone who participated in our raffles and/or donated to the TSB Fund. Anyone who would like to make a contribution can go to http://thetsbfund.com and click on the "Donate" button at the bottom of the page. We now accept credit card donations to make it even easier to help TSB!

Jackie --for acceping so many difficult squirrel cases...

Jackie, don't you ever do that again.:nono
You scared the **** out of me, but when I thought about you putting a squirrel down, I thought someone had gotten into your account and was posting as you....because those words would never come out of your mouth.
This is a problem that needs to be addressed on TSB. You do get all of the hard cases, the ones that most likely will have vet expenses involved. You are given the squirrels because of your ability to heal almost everything that you touch, and because people know that you cannot turn a squirrel away.
We are here to help, we know you are broke, no offense......you have said it yourself.
We need to come up with some plan where we are able to help ALL of the squirrels on TSB that need vet care. You are the one that gets most of these cases. Perhaps when the raffles are done, people who donate to the raffle by purchasing tickets can put "Jackie" on their donations, where it will still be kept in the TSB fund, but earmarked for your vet expenses. If people want to participate in the raffle and have no preference where the monies go, then they leave it blank and TSB will help where needed. Perhaps we can do something like that?!?
There has to be an answer to this. BUT in the meantime, please put these situations in the emergency thread for a day or two as some of us don't get around on the board as much these days.
Glad the little bugger is home and doing well, how can he not. :grouphug Santa...........OMG I love this name, glad it was around Christmas and not Easter.....:bunny
