I have a question.... On a Tums bottle the active ingredients say they are calcium carbonate... calcium carbonate is what they need right? Are the tums just as good to grind up as buying the bottles of actual calcium to give them on a regular basis ? I was just wondering.

Well, ideally, you are feeding a rodent block like the Henry's Bites that supply the proper amount of calcium and everything else - if so, you do not need to supplement.

Some squirrels like the taste of the fruit Tums - my boy considers them a treat! But many don't, and the calcium carbonate powder has no taste, which allows you to hide it in their food more easily than the strongly flavored Tums.

Tums also has binders, flavors, artificial sweeteners, etc., that you may not want your squirrel having on a regular basis.
