I've been worried recently about my cat's eye. The pictures I took don't really show it, but the left eye just doesn't look right. It's not as clear as the other one when the light shines on it. It reminds me almost of a polished stone with a flaw in it- the light shines normally through most of it but looks wrong in one spot. There is also a very slight discharge around the edge of the eye. We think it might be cataracts, but aren't really sure. Anyone else have any suggestions? Both cats are overdue for a vet visit anyways, so we intend to make an appointment. Also, if our guess is right, how much should we expect it to cost to fix besides the regular vet visit cost?

My mom has a small dog whose eyes looked like that when cataracts started to develop on them. There was also discharge from her eyes. I won't say that's what it is for sure cause I'm not sure but it's what it looks like to me. I wouldn't know a cost as my moms dog is now fully blind with cataracts in both eyes. Fixing them was deemed an issue due to health reasons. Hope all turns out ok.

It could also be something simple like a corneal ulcer on her eye from a scratch. The vet can put a little stain in her eye and tell you quickly. It's probably not a bad idea to stop in to see the vet. Usually the vet will charge the normal office visit, whatever that may be in your area. Here it's about 45.00 and if the cat needs some eye antibiotics that is usually under 20.00. If it is something more serious usually they will either try to treat it or send you to a specialist which can cost a lot more. Hopefully it's nothing too serious. Good luck.
