Hi, we found Simon our squirrel on may first, he is paralyzed in his back legs and since we've had him we have had his cage in front of a Velux window on our landing in our loft as with the window open he had fresh air and a view.

But now its winter and the window is shut we thought it would be better to move him downstairs in front of a big window, however today my mum came home from walking our dog and he was making a repetitive loud calling noise and would only stop when mum stayed with him or he was moved away from the window. He has never made this noise before is he scared or just demonstrating male squirrel behavior?

What do you think we should do?

Thanks
Emily :)

When we first got him he was a youngster and now he is an adult male.

That is most likely his alarm call because he saw or heard something alarming to him :D; with squirrels it can be anything from a hawk overhead to a leaf-blower or lawnmower engine starting up. I had a squirrel here once who alarmed every time I turned my dishwasher on....:D

Once they start alarming they really can't stop on cue. It has to sort of run its course.
