local chestnuts, are they ok to feed?

I know Jackie had problems with the ones from the stores, but just had someone bring me some from the tree in their yard. They are ok to give to my squirrels, right?

I had posted the same question a little while ago, it's my understanding that store bought chestnuts are a no no but wild chestnuts are ok to feed. I give Hiccup wild ones and he is perfectly fine.
