First I want to say I didn't find a squirrel and say wouldn't it be cute to raise a squirrel. My daughter wants to be a vet and she volunteers at a office. Some one brought in two squirrels. They had rehabbed squirrels before but no one was willing. So my daughter took it on. Unfortunately because of studies it got passed to me. One didn't make it. So for 7 weeks I have been getting up in the middle of the night to feed him. He has been fine but today in his cage he grabbed on to a bar & got his teeth caught. They were all perfect & now they are all crooked. I can't find any one to see him till tomorrow. I don't think he can close his mouth as they are all side ways now.He bleed some but has now stopped. I believe a tooth was pulled out. But I am more worried about his crooked teeth. What can they do ?? besides file them down. Can they be straightened?? I get really attached & am really worried about Rupert.
Is there anything I can do to ease his pain/trauma??

:Welcome :wave123
I am slow lazy typer...please bear/bare with me:)
Are you saying the sq is 7 weeks old?
do you know how much he weighs? in grams?
do you have any childrens or infants iibuprofen/motrin?
can you take a pic and email it to me
thecrazysquirrellady@gmail.com
I don't think the forum will allow you post pics yet..maybe it will.
What town are you in/near in Georgia, TSB can try to expedite help in locating someone for you that would be safe, Georgia is illegal state and many vets will confiscate and euthanize any non releasable sqs.
It may help to place pencil in mouth for a better pic of teeth.
sorry for all the questions..
they will help the rehabber here to help you.

bump...
it is best to stay with one thread..
:peace I'm not the forum police, just gets confusing trying to keep up with too many emergency cases..
If you can answer the questions posted , it will HELP ALL THE REHABBERS on TSB to know enough info to share their thoughts.
It will expedite responses...
we are waiting for YOUR INPUT INFO so we know what is actually going on and have needed details.
would love an update.

Hi I can't find any of my post (2) except through the thread you sent me.
I am working on taking a picture. He was pretty lively before he got hurt but was not crazy about cheerios etc. Now he doesn't try to eat them, want eat nuts either. He is about 10 weeks old. My daughter says her people tell her he should be eating cheerios etc by now. I have read that he will lose his baby teeth. I wish he would naw down his teeth so they wouldn't hurt. But he doest naw on anything but the syringe with his food, But when its empty he stops.
I have noticed that he has stopped making himself a bed. He use to curl up in a ball & really work on making sure we couldn't see him. Now he just lays out on his back ,were everyone can see him.Is there anything I can put in his cage that will help him with his teeth ? A stick with peanut butter?etc?
