View Full Version : Couple of questions/concerns

1. Is it ok that Hiccup ate raw egg? I give my dog 2 raw eggs every two weeks or so because it helps her coat (she has bad skin and a vet told me eggs would help) the other day I had cracked two eggs in her bowl and had it set on the stove for when I was ready to feed her. Hiccup was running around like he always does and before I could stop him he jumped in her bowl and began eating the eggs. He didn't eat much but I'm a concerned if this will hurt him?

2. Ritz crackers? I was eating them with cheese and bologna and Hiccup literally stole one out of my hand. He gobbled some of it up before I was able to take it from him. He really seemed to enjoy it though and I was wondering if I could give him one very, very occasionally as a treat.

Don't believe either will hurt him, but try not to make a habit out of it. Squirrels in the wild will eat lots of different things. I had some that would go crazy over gold fish crackers. I would give them a tiny piece once in a great while. Nope, not great, but not something that will kill them. I may be wrong, but don't believe eating either of them once will cause harm.

Thank you for your reply :) I wasn't too concerned about the ritz cracker. My PopPop used to sit outside every day and hand feed wild squirrels ritz crackers and assorted nuts. The same squirrels came back for years so I figured a few bites wouldn't hurt him. It was the egg that I was really concerned about because after all, it's still a baby chicken and squirrels aren't carnivores so I didn't know if it would upset his belly.

I'm relieved that its not a big deal :)

No, they are not, but there have been several pics of squirrels eating birds, and I would imagine even bird eggs. They do need protein in their diet (although I believe the get more of that from bugs). Keep an eye out, but I wouldn't be overly concerned. Just make him a pecan omelet next time! lol

I will :) he doesn't seem to be acting any different. He was actually pretty angry when I took it away from him lol he got all sorts of bitched up and wanted to scrap something fierce lol but all it took was a peice of Henry's Peanut Stix and he decided we could be friends again :rotfl
