First of all I want to thank every one that helped me 4 days ago.You saved my precious baby girls life.:bowdown Butter is back to her normal self now.She has 3 more doses of AB's to go. Both her and her sister(Peanut) now weigh 90 grams. They are eating 6 cc each at every feeding and starting to explore their territory.I have ordered the HHB's for them. They are still a little unstable on their feet but that does not keep them from moving around.(Especially when it comes to feeding time).
My questions now are when should I move them out of their box to a small cage? And what should their feeding schedule be now? I feed them every 4 hours through the day and then 6 hours after the late night feeding. I didn't know if there should be more time between feedings now since they are eating more?
Thank you all so much again! Peanut and Butter thank you too!

No, stick with that time for now, let them get a bit bigger, as they grow, the food amount will increase (5-7% of their weight). I weigh every morning, after pottying, before eating, to get an accurate weight and adjust that morning feeding as needed. When they get bigger (say over 150 grams) I weigh every 2-3 days.

You can switch them to a small cage now, I usually do if they are 6+ weeks. Sorry, I forgot how old your little ones are.:D
The bar spacing should be 1/2 inch. Let me find a picture of a cage that I think is ideal for this age. Be right back....:thumbsup

I am going to direct you to a link that has some of my cages in.
(I'm babysitting some NYC babies, that's why the pictures are in IR's thread....:D )
I also have used a big bin with a top and tons of holes in the top, and tons of fleece for babies this age.
Then I switch them over to a small cage, you can even hang a cube in this cage, and it's only 2 feet long.

Just scroll through the photos and you will see what I am talking about....:D
Some better photos on page 12 and 13.

:thankyou Their eyes opened 4 days ago so I am estimating they are about 5 1/2 weeks old. I am just trying to get things rounded up and ready for when it is time so it isn't a rush to try to do it at the last minute. I will try to post a pic of them on here later. It is feeding time now.:) Thank again! Everyone here is AWESOME!!!:grouphug

You may be better off going with the large bin for now, they really work out great, and you don't have to worry about little legs getting caught in the bars.

This is the cage I always use as the first cage. (You can find it a lot cheaper, but just so you can see the pic. they carry it in Petco, I believe for 39.99, but if you buy in bulk, can get them even cheaper.)

Then I move up in cage size (I have a TON of cages...just ask my very understanding hubby!!! lol)

So the bin is like a rubbermaid storage box? The cage I am getting from my sister has a tray for the bottom not bars.Do I need to still use a bin first? I was scared if the bars on the side would hurt them or if it would be to open on the sides and they would get to cold.I would still leave the heating pad under it.The bars are 1/2 inch apart.

LOL.Pappy. I am understanding how easy it is to get and have a lot of stuff for these squirrels. It is hard not to.:D

Actually, if they have just started getting around, I would use the rubbermade tub for a while....just a couple of weeks.
Then I like the cage with the horizontal bars for these little ones, they seem to be able to climb better. This cage that is pictured below is only 12 inches high I believe, maybe 15 at the most. I use tons of fleece and at one end I have papertowels for them to use for pottying.:D

I know your concern about the corners, so perhaps the tub would be better for a couple of weeks, and you can use it afterward too.
Anytime you put your first squirrel into anything.........it's scary. Like you I looked for every conceivable problem that they would find, knock on wood, so far no injuries do to any cages....:)
